This folds in nicely with my “there are only 24 actors in England” theory who appear in each others television shows and films. Should I be offended that different actresses are shown here representing Jane? No, I say! Brilliant casting for a woman who defied the odds and lived outside character norms… oh, hell… who am I kidding? Stupendous storytelling as always!
agree, there are only 24 actors in England and they are all in Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, or Doctor Who. I'm sure there's one actor who's knocked out all three but I can't think of them.
I was listening to the Doctor Who: Verity podcast and they mentioned a drinking game: Watch "I, Cladius" (starring Derek Jacoby who was in Doctor Who) and take a shot every time an actor from Doctor Who appears. There is apparently a lot which cements the "24 actors in England" theory.
Additionally, a lot of these actors have a credit in "Midsommer Murders" which is in it's 900th season. The cast credits (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118401/fullcredits) is a virtual delight.
Every time I read one of your posts Allison, I thank the heavens and the stars and the moon above that I do not live in any of the historical periods the people you cover did.
I love the idea that Jane was framed! Doesn't matter in the least that there's no evidence in support; it FEELS right and I want it to be right, so it must be right. Right?
I almost like Jane Boleyn after reading this (I'm 100% an Anne Boleyn stan so this is a big deal for me), and definitely have more respect for her messy bitch schemy energy. Awesome piece, per usual!
I definitely laughed out loud over this column, and thanks for watching The Tudors so i didn't have to. I do have all of the Wolf Hall books on my shelf and think about rereading them sometimes.
Congratulations on your restraint in punnery, and also for the excellent caption under that photo of Anne and George from The Tudors which made me laugh out loud!
“Please tell me why England and only has 11 families” brilliant!!
It's the "Yass, Queen ('s brother)" for me.
I am eagerly anticipating your book. So many dirtbags, so little time! #StinkyLegUlcer

Welp, we have David Tennant for the win on Harry Potter and Doctor Who and by proxy his son Ty who was in House of the Dragon. I rest my case.
Yes! David Bradley who played Filch in Harry Potter has definitely been in all three

it's a big day in Dirtbag Nation: someone brought up I, Claudius and it wasn't me!!

And then I read a news headline.

this is my approach to history, in any case!
